Screen Icons: Amitabh Bachchan

BAFTA invited Indian screen legend Amitabh Bachchan to a special weekend on 16 and 17 June 2007 in celebration of his exceptional career in film.

Amitabh Bachchan changed the face of Indian cinema with the 'Angry Young Man' persona he established in the seventies, with hits like Sholay, and launched Bachchan as the most powerful actor in Bollywood cinema.

A Life in Pictures: Amitabh Bachchan.

This event was part of the Academy's A Life in Pictures strand of events, celebrating the art of film exploring a major and distinctive contribution to the artistic development of the film form. This very special strand enabled an audience to hear first-hand from a creative force in the industry.

The event, chaired by BAFTA-winning producer and presenter Alan Yentob, explored Amitabh's enormous success and contribution to the Indian film industry.The Lakhani Group were appointed to provide the themed décor & to photograph the whole event. In 2006 a similar event was organised for Shah Rukh Khan & after the success of that, this year The Lakhani Group were called upon again to provide services for this once in a lifetime event for Amitabh Bachchan.
